Using the Library

Yes, the Library has books, more than 70,000 physical items, and tens of thousands more digital ones! But don’t stop with checking out a good read, there’s so much more you can do at the Library!

Here are a few suggestions:

First, get a FREE Newton Public Library card!

All Kansas residents may apply at the Library with current photo ID and proof of residency. A parent or legal guardian registers minors under 18 years of age. Teacher cards for classroom use with longer check-out times are available. Out-of-state students in the area may also apply for free NPL cards with their student ID.

Check out the variety of collections:

Books, audiobooks, learning kits, board games, Experience Passes, Library of Things items, and so much more!

Use the online catalog:

Search the catalog, place a request, review your account, renew your materials.

Get a free Kansas library card:

Find free information online from magazines and databases and download free audio, ebook and video materials, or get help with skills to advance your career.

Attend special events or free classes:

Whether it’s StoryTimes, Teen Gaming, computer classes, book discussions, an author visit, or some other special event, don’t miss out!

Use our special services:

Delivery to homebound seniors in Newton and North Newton through ENLITE Outreach Service, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance during tax season, Interlibrary Loan for requesting materials from other Libraries, Talking Books service for those unable to read standard print.

Come to the Library:

Find out our hours and location, use our computers or wireless network, view a special display, use the photocopying or fax machine, book a room for your next meeting.
